Learning how to speed read
In practically every college course, a copious amount of reading is required. This is especially true for English and Political Science majors. This is why speed reading can prove to be an invaluable skill during college, and beyond. The ability to read through various texts at a rapid pace will dramatically reduce the amount of time you devote that particular aspect of study, freeing you to analyze and absorb the material more thoroughly.
Some might say they can avoid the rigors of required reading by majoring in science or mathematics. But even technically-focused majors must complete certain “general education course” which usually includes some form of Literature, Philosophy, and/or English classes.
So how does someone learn to speed read? Well, there are a plethora of speed reading guides and tutorials showing you the simple steps to improve reading efficiency. However, not all products are created equally. Some are downright terrible and ineffective. So if you do nothing else, just pick up a book and start reading on a regular basis. Furthermore, performing this act will create a routine that will carry over into the school year. You’ll instill this desire to read everyday, which should make those required reading assignments a bit easier to handle.
